The team here at local Surrey digital agency, Thunderbolt Digital, are big fans of good web design, and as such like to keep up to date with the latest in both app and website design in Surrey, Britain and the rest of the world! The latest development that we’ve seen comes from social media giant Facebook, who are focusing more than ever on video, and have even changed the layout of their messenger app to help direct attention to their live streaming feature, Facebook Live.
Our website design Surrey team know video and live streaming are at the forefront of social media and tech development, therefore many companies are looking to invest in ways to improve or expand upon their current services, including Facebook. Facebook Live allows users to stream video live to an audience, who in turn are able to react in real-time from the same array of emotions that have been added to Facebook’s like button (including ‘haha’, ‘wow’, ‘love’ and more).
However, many are still unaware of Facebook’s answer to Periscope, and so the company are looking for ways to advertise itself, including rearranging their messenger app to make the feature more visible to users. This is yet another change to the messenger app by Facebook in an attempt to become something of a hub to smartphone users; past efforts to improve the service and grab a bigger audience include Messenger bringing back SMS integration, and the ability to call and pay for an Uber in-app.
Livestreaming is something that is certainly garnering a lot of interest right now, but it seems that a lot of businesses are floundering and are not quite sure how to capitalise on the success and engagement rates for video streams. Indeed, whilst video ads can be created for every industry sector, it’s a lot more difficult to think about what could be feasibly live streamed beyond sports, music and game events. Expos and fashion shows are certainly other possibilities, but smaller businesses and those who deal with things that are less glamorous may struggle to find topics, especially ones that fit in with their brand identity.
